When my dog, Gandalf, and I first set foot on this land we had no idea of the many adventures to come in the Highlands of Hastings, north of Belleville, ON Canada.  Over the next four decades, many friends and colleagues have helped shape our 45-acre canvas into a place of beauty and tranquility. We invite you to experience our rural dream.

Leave your cares at the road and proceed up the long earthen driveway, bordered by stone fences and overhung by 80-year old cherry trees. Rivendell Herb Farm is comprised of a country store, the Rivendell Emporium which features potted herbs, herbal products and giftware; a cozy Tea Room Café offering gourmet lunches and sumptuous afternoon teas; themed herb gardens with over 100 varieties of herbs; a furniture studio; and a selection of workshops and special events.

We encourage guests to stroll through our landscaped areas of wildflowers and themed herb gardens. Outdoor enthusiasts may also choose to venture into the wilderness as we are only 2 km away from the eastern Ontario section of the Trans-Canada Trail system. This summer we plan to establish some hiking and biking trails of our own.

For those who prefer something less strenuous, please browse in the Emporium which features over 130 different varieties of potted herbs and our Rivendell line of dried herb blends, teas, vinegars, honeys and lavender products. Stay for lunch or tea, indoors or out, in the Tea Room Café, enroll in a workshop or free special event, or just plain relax on our rambling property.

Our "property in progress" continues to provide an endless array of ideas for the future - herb fairs, an online newsletter and corporate events.  Plans for a Bed and Breakfast are in the initial stages.  Please drop in and share our idyllic country retreat only 2 1/2 hours east of Toronto, and 2 1/2 hours south-west of Canada's nation's capital, Ottawa.
