Preparing Herbal Remedies

Since the summer of 1999 we have offered workshops encompassing a wide variety of themes (herbal crafts, folklore, cooking with herbs, herbal teas, and fairies in the garden).

Conducted herb walks through our gardens are also very popular. Most workshops include Tea (specialty herbal tea and decadent treats!), or a full gourmet lunch from the Rivendell Tea Room Café.

Please join us for our annual series of special events - offered complimentary to all our Rivendell guests throughout the summer and early fall. No pre-registration required. Mark these dates on your calendar!

Sunday, May 13 - Celebrating Our Mothers!
All mothers receive a complimentary Spanish Lavender plant and tips about how to grow lavender!

Sunday, June 3 - Sage Advice in the Gardens
At 2 pm, learn about the many culinary and healing properties of sage, the International Herb of the Year. Make a sage boutineer to take home with you!

Sunday, June 17 - Our Wonderful Dads!
All fathers receive a free Lemon Balm plant and information about how to use this versatile herb!

Sunday, July 15 - Herbal Scavenger Hunt
From 11 am - 4 pm put your herbal smarts into practice. An entertaining event for all - beginners are specially welcome! Everyone receives a herbal prize.

Sunday, August 12 - A Herbal History
At 3 pm, join us for a brief garden stroll to learn about the history of the herbs used in preparing the cuisine at the Rivendell Tea Room Café.

Sunday, Aug 26 - Herbal Scavenger Hunt

Sunday, September 30 - Your Herbal Harvest
At 2 pm, learn about the various methods for perserving and using the herbs in your garden. Hands-on demonstrations and free fact sheet!

Rivendell Summer Workshops

We continue to offer workshops so that you may learn about herbal folklore and the many uses of culinary, medicinal, body-care and herbs.

Payment in advance is required. Applicable taxes are extra. 
All prices are in Canadian dollars.

If your workshop does not include a full meal, be sure to reserve your seating in advance!


Culinary Herbs from the Garden
Learn how herbs are used to enhance the value and flavour of our everyday cooking. Gather herbs from our gardens and experiment with blending various herb mixes to be enjoyed with Rivendell herbal tea.
Sunday, June 24; 1:30 - 4:30 pm - $23.

Herb Walk & Luncheon
Experience a stimulating morning stroll through our themed gardens and learn about herbal folklore and the uses of culinary, medicinal, and fragrant herbs. Then relax, and enjoy a delicious luncheon in the Rivendell Tea Room Café.
Saturday, June 30 & Aug 18; 10 - 1 pm - $29.

Herb Walk & Afternoon Tea
Same enjoyable experience as above, only ended by an afternoon tea in the Rivendell Tea Room Café.

Preparing Herbal Teas
Enjoy a leisurely walk in our gardens to gather a variety of herbs suitable for tea. Blend your harvest to make your own specialty tea blend. Add exotic spices if you wish! Share your tea with others, accompanied by treats from the Rivendell Tea Room Café.
Sunday, July 8; 1:30 - 3:30 pm - $23.

Celebrating Women & Herbs
The morning is spent with local, traditional herbalist Sherri Bergman discovering herbs on our property that can benefit women - from puberty, to pregnancy, to menopause. After a gourmet lunch, included in the workshop fee, collect and blend a variety of herbal remedies to take home. Recipe handouts provided.
